# Identifiers

Identifier schemes are your own custom labels for grouping records. Define a prefix once, then attach it to any chemical, piece of equipment, vehicle, or employee.
Example: create a prefix ZONE-A to assign physical area zones to chemicals — every drum stored in Zone A gets tagged ZONE-A-12, ZONE-A-13, etc.
